About us

Kin is a certified independent disability advocacy service, which means that we’re here for you and your family – no hidden agendas. Our staff are passionate about providing you with the information you need to make informed decisions. We’ll help you to challenge barriers to accessing services and empower you to self-advocate. At Kin, we speak your language.

Our mission

We work to ensure that all Australians who live with disability, cultural and language barriers know and exercise their rights which gives them the independence, control and freedom to enjoy a fuller life, no matter who they are.

We look after all of Western Australia, from inner city to remote country

No matter where you live in Western Australia, Kin can help. We know that ease of access to services is vital for people with disability. Our advocates are from your community and understand your culture – they know the answers to your unique questions, and the services available in your area.

Quality assured

Kin is a quality assured agency, having been assessed, independently of government, as being compliant against the National Standards for Disability Services (NSDS). This means that in all aspects of our work we make sure that as a client you are respected, your rights are upheld, and we work with you to achieve the best possible outcomes. Our staff are fully trained and have the skills and experience to work with people from etho-culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The agency is audited every eighteen months. This gives confidence to the government departments we receive funding from and agencies we interact with that we meet the NSDS in all aspects of our work.

Organisational structure

We are a team that welcomes everyone as they are and believe that together we can do so much more.

Under business manager there is the administration team, project team, pro-bono support and consultants. Under the advocacy branch there is the individual advocacy team, the systemic advocacy team, the community liaison officer, student volunteers and multicultural ambassadors.
